Hi !

We'll be spending a few days in the area between Eureka and Redwood National Park.
Do you have any suggestions for "not to be missed" caches around Eureka, Arcata, Blue Lake, McKinleyville, Trinidad, and Patrick's Point?
Looking for quality, not quantity.
Not afraid of puzzles, or semi-challenging hides.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome Cooties! (I haven't used that word since the 3rd grade) lol2

For some good cache ideas in our area check out this thread. There are some newer ones since those lists were made, so stay tuned.

As for puzzles, check out Nylimb's puzzle caches. You may have done some of his in Davis.

Spelling aside, I have to agree that it's a beautiful area, and I very much enjoyed finding the cache today.

The only unpleasant part was bushwhacking through poison oak in the narrow space between the river and the cliff near N 40 50.12 W 123 56.43. Enbay, do you know of a way to avoid that?

In Google Earth, it looks like there are trails/roads that go around that. Going that way would add about a mile of hiking (in each direction), and about 500 feet of elevation gain, so I'm not sure it's an improvement. And I could be wrong; maybe the lines that look like a trail aren't.

P.S.: The difficulty rating is too high; I'd call it 1.5. Once you get to the location it's an easy find.

I have been to the Dam several times many years ago, I hiked in following Canyon Creek down from the Maple Creek road.
