The placement of the one millionth cache occurred some time ago. This recent celebration marks one million
active caches. The number of caches placed = active caches + archived caches; and that's way over one million.
In the
GC forums, addisonbr calculated the one millionth code number to be
GC1GBC0, noting the following:
Although it should be noted that it's the millionth waypoint number, not necessarily the millionth published cache. Lots of waypoint numbers get handed out but never used for a variety of reasons.
