More speculation in the forums.
Quote:
Homeland security is probably watching the area. It's a major corridor for the import of power for California. Three DC power lines into the LA basin provide much of the power to the area. It's one of a list of likely targets that are the goverment's watchlist.

Since 2001, survelliance methods have become more sophisticated, it's likely overflights in the area have picked up unusual activity. You wouldn't notice them as they fly 20,000 feet or higher and rely on advanced optic and infrared sensors to monitor the area.

Wikipedia actually has a page on the line, which is called Path 27, or the Intermountain DC power transmission corridor.

Hide chapper here,
I opened a new thread last night where I posed the possibility where TOTG veterans could post their stories and photos. A repository of positives. I also threw out the possibility of an instantly identifiable shirt which could serve to warn the public at large that the wearer had an affliction and might be contagious. A moderator out of Pennsylvania killed the thread before two hours had elapsed. Could it be that they wish for the TOTG debacle to roll to the bottom and disappear? My Bad, My bad I go to corner and repent.

When Jeremy dropped by for coffee this morning he said, "When is HF going to get the message? We've tried closing his threads, not approving his caches, removing his ALRs, not publishing his CITO events...geez."

Oh my, here it is early thirty in the A.M. and I have just finished logging the first half of my caches from the Power Trail a little more than 150 left to log.
Wishing all LCCF members a great and glorious caching day and NO DNF's

Still logging from TOTG. I notice some folks still out working the trail. Although archived the archived cache containers remain in place. Cache containers are slated to be picked up 04/23/10. Hats off to those out in the Mojave doing their own thing by taking advantage of a narrow window of opportunity. KUDOS

Well, is 695 going to be the final one-day record? Here is a log from ZSteve at the cache Martin Van Buren:
Quote:
Legoboyjj, Rain or Shine, and I hit the trail today to tackle this series. We had an absolute blast exploring the area and finding these caches. Even though we were running most of the day, I still took time to enjoy the views, look closer at the variety of blooming plants, and see the desert in a way that I’ve never had the opportunity to before. All of that plus the fact that we found 695 caches today make this a caching adventure that I’ll never forget. A huge thanks to the owner of these caches for placing them – It’s sad to see them get archived.
