That may not be entirely true based on a little research:

How do I tell the sex of my frog or toad?

Sexing frogs depends on the species. There are a number of tropical species that are dimorphic in regards to color, with the males being more colorful than females. In Minnesota, Bullfrogs and Green Frog males have larger eardrums than females. In some species males will have enlarged thumbs. Most good field guides will provide descriptions of the differences.

Under certain conditions, some frogs can change their sex! Check it out

So, He may actually be a She

Here is what I was originally referring to when I called Signal a "he".....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use of he to refer to a person of unknown gender was prescribed by manuals of style and school textbooks from the early 19th century until around the 1960s. It was called 'generic' or 'universal'.[citation needed]
The customer brought his purchases to the cashier for checkout.
In a supermarket, anyone can buy anything he needs.
When a customer argues, always agree with him.
This may be compared to usage of the word man to humans in general.
"All men are created equal."
"That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
"Man cannot live by bread alone."
Gender-specific pronouns were also prescribed when one might presume that most members of some group are the same gender, (although some may consider such presumtions to be offensive).
A secretary should keep her temper in check.
A janitor should respect and listen to his employers.
Every hairdresser has her own style.
A junior doctor is at the bottom of his profession.
[edit]Singular 'they'
Since at least the 15th century 'they', 'them' and 'their' have been used, in an increasingly more accepted fashion, as singular pronouns. This is called the singular 'they'.
[edit]'One'
Some sentences can be rephrased to use the impersonal pronoun 'one':
Each student should save his questions until the end.
One should save one's questions until the end.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm not someone who worries about female equality so to refer to a frog with unknown gender as a "he" does not offend me. That is all I was trying to say.

I wonder if Signal the Frog is attending Groundfrog Day tomorrow?
