The M&G has been moved! We are now holding it at HOT BREW in Fortuna! Also, time has changed. Please consult the cache page for details.

TFJ and HGS, I would like to get together with you to consult on what is planned so far. What time is good for you both?

Here is a little background on the "other" O.C.B. (and the impetus to create the Un-O.C.B.)

WOW, is it really true? I can get the OCB at my next event?
Yes, you can!

Over the last couple of years, I’ve had many requests for the OCB to attend geocaching events. Many of the requests are from around the U.S., some have been from as far away as Germany and Sweden.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to turn them down. I simply couldn’t UPS or FedEx the OCB out to them. We’ve all seen how rough those shipping boxes get handled or bounced around in the delivery trucks and the OCB would arrive as a pile of rusty pieces, due to its extremely fragile condition. All the shipping insurance in the world wouldn’t be able to bring it back, and a bit of geocaching history would be lost forever.

Since finding the OCB, I’ve personally traveled almost 70,000 miles with it, taking it to events around the country and it has even traveled over to Frankfurt, Germany and Moscow, Russia. Until now, OCB appearances have relied solely on my personal travel plans, which only sometimes coincided with a local caching event. Still, I wished others could have the OCB at their events. I tried to think of a way to get the OCB out to events without damaging it at all, and came up with this idea.

If the OCB were to be shipped FedEx, with insurance, it would be at least $50 each way, and it would probably be ruined during shipping. So there goes at least $100 and the OCB.

Without a doubt, the ONLY SAFE way to get the OCB to your Event is to bring it there. Depending on the number of cachers attending your event, this could cost each person as little as a few dollars each. This would cover transportation costs to and from the Event. It would take some planning, though, and would require at least 2-3 weeks advance notification.

For those interested, please contact me with the date/time/place of the Event as well as the number of cachers attending and I will email an estimate for the OCB to attend your Event.

Thank you.
