Wow, by the 4th? If I could cache all day every day I might be able to make that.

Let see, if I can find 2.7 every day for the next 183 days, that would be do-able. But I have to work, so if I were to cache only on Friday's (day off) then I need to find 19 each of the next 26 Fridays. If my family would let me cache on every day off, Friday through Sunday then in those 78 days I need only 6.4 finds each day. If that were actually something my family would let me do (they won't), where would I be able to find them nearby? At last estimate there are only 200ish caches left for me in Humboldt. I'm not sure how many of those I've tried multiple times and DNFed (not logged though). That number also includes all the puzzle caches that I can not solve .

I do know that I've got another 41 (including temporarily archived) SweetJ tortures left to find!

We need more new cache hides folks!

But GSAK doesn't think I can get the next 500 until 1-2011

News from Denmark
:
Quote:
Yesterday (28. december 2009) the danish geocachers Picht and Elmbaek found a record breaking 480 caches in 20 hours. 251 in Denmark and the rest in Sweden. 2 hours transport between the found places included in the 20 hours.

… and here is one of the logs from that day:

Fundet sammen med Picht. Vi tog til Nordsjællands Powertrail for at tage en bid af denne. Men da vi efter 7 timer havde fundet samtlige 250 cacher besluttede vi at fortsætte dagen i Halmstad.
Fundet som nummer 384 af dagens 480 cacher!
Tak MercedesBenz for cachen.
Elmbaek. #8035

These are the same guys, Team DK08, that set the record in Sacramento a couple of years ago.

Second half of second quote translation....
Found with Picht. We went to North Sealand Power Trail to take a bite out of this. But as 7 hours after we had taken all 250 caches, we decided to continue day in Halmstad.
Found at number 384, day 480 caches!
Thank you Mercedes Benz for the cache.
Elmbæk. # 8035

Although a truly an impressive feat, I wonder how they fund their lives. I'm just a poor student who can't travel the world just to find caches. One must also wonder of the density of caches to find so many in such a short length of time. If we lived a more densely populated area, we too would have thousands of finds, wouldn't you think?

Indeed, however, I think we have quality caches and they may have greater significance to us than 10,000 of something else. Those grand sweeping vistas, ocean overlooks and they warm fuzzy feeling one gets after nabbing a sweetj or tfj cache. Then of course there is the sense of accomplishment after th 2 month 19 hours I spent in the Manilla Dunes on Draw you a map and shifting sands. PRICELESS

Update: Elverhøj, Camfrea and Mafrea found 504 caches in 24 hours on a Swedish power trail run. Read their January 2 logs for the Halmstad PowerTrail "HPT A02".

100 FTF's as of today. TRI 463 - GC23G5K.
I only have 32 sweetj caches to go, but I'm guessing he will stay ahead of me.
