Well, I have out grown my Magellan Triton and am looking into a new one. I would appreciate your input as to what unit is best for this game we play? Also, if any of you have an extra unit you are not using, I may be interested in buying it off you if it is one you would like to part with. Thank you for your help.

Ranger Emily had the Garmin 60csx. It's definitely better than my Magellan Explorist. But unless you got money...

snicker-doodles are my favorite. I do love my PN-40 paperless caching and super easy to download route quarries

Thank you Mr mikewdd, but I have been set up with a nice eTrex Vista HCx by a certain humboldtian flying Santa. I should have said I no longer had a need on this forum. Sorry Fellas for my negligence.

If you still need a GPS to use we have our newbie one. It's a Garmin Etrex Venture HC. If you'd like to borrow it just let us know. We planned on donating it to a soldier overseas until my health pre-occupied us. It's yours to enjoy in the meantime if you'd like....

I have recently volunteered in a program that helps Irak/Afgan veterans with disabilities transition back to civilian life through fishing, hunting, and even geocaching. I had already donated my "newbie" gps to one of the soldiers, but there was another one, that really needs a gps for hunting trails and possibly geocaching. After a day out on the lake fishing, we went on a couple of finds one on some island in a middle of a lake, and they really got a kick out of it...
If you are still interested in donating the one you mentioned, I would be willing to pay you for the S&H so the gps can get to the soldier in question.

Hey all, I think it would be a nice gesture to reserve our older, retired units for the military and programs for those who are in programs such as described by Crimona. In the past we have given units to the kids in the Fortuna After School caching program, have not seen any return on our generosity. Perhaps our retired units could be earmarked for other programs. ( Just saying )

This request I made to hail for everyone's possible contribution/involvement to try to better this screwed up world we live in. I am by no means rich, but every day I try to find modalities of helping others that are less fortunate. I have already seen first-hand the conditions at the military hospitals, and the way the VA is "helping" the thousands of troops that have lost limbs, or been disfigured by burns. I cannot help every single one of those in need, but if I can make a difference in the lives of just a few, I feel fulfilled.
Since we don't have kids, I also volunteer in "Big Brother" type programs. I have noticed that in the new Tekkie generation, an older hand-held GPS does not hold as high as a new phone on the scale of possessions. Soon after, it ends up in the drawer gathering dust again... But I am certain a veteran soldier would not only appreciate it exceedingly more, but put it to good use for a long time.
Since my post, I have already prepared my second GPS gift to a veteran soldier. I KNOW these GPSs will serve a better purpose than sitting in a drawer gathering dust...
(...and I'm off my soap box!)

If you're still interested on donating, or selling the GPS you mentioned, let me know, I am still interested.

That is awesome. I am very interested to send it to a veteran in need. PM me so we can figure out how to do this.

Thank you so very much, Mike
