GPS Adventures opens tomorrow in Seattle, and Groundspeak is hosting a special meet and greet cache event to celebrate.

This is the 4th stop in the traveling geomaze tour since it first opened in 2007. From Seattle it travels to Iowa in May, then on to Ontario in September.

But here is the great news: From May 1, 2010 through September 6, 2010 it will be at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding, California.
Quote:
A 2,500 square foot maze simulates the experience of GPS and Geocaching in four environments: city, local park, back-country and historic site. Wall panels feature thematic graphics up to 12 ft long and 7 ft high of rivers and lakes, mountains and valleys, city streets and structures. Maze dead ends portray impassable obstacles such as waterfalls, cliffs and ravines.
This is a great exhibit for everyone; including geocachers, school groups, and even muggles. As a geocacher you can log your attendance at the GPS Adventures Maze and receive a unique Groundspeak icon on your geocaching.com profile page. Here's the cache page for the Seattle exhibit.

Let's all plan to attend next year in Redding. whee

i have checked it out on line and we are very excited to check it out next year. btw if you join HSU Natural History Museum for $50 you get free family admission at turtle bay, the exploratorium, OMSI among many others. one trip to any of them will pay for the membership and the money stays local. It's a great deal!

When you purchase your membership at the HSU Natural History Museum make sure it includes the ASTC Passport Program that will not only get you into the Turtle Bay Park for the GPS Adventures Maze, but you can also use it at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle when you go to GeoWoodstock VIII in Carnation.

It's close to the Space Needle, and the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame is nearby too!

You can read a review of the GPS Adventure Maze here. Oh no, to get into the rooms you have to figure out a puzzle. banghead

Updated info: The GPS Adventures Maze is scheduled for Turtle Bay beginning on Saturday, May 1, 2010.

Groundspeak has traditionally hosted a Meet & Greet on opening day at each new location, and the February 20 event was so large it was designated a mega-event. woot

If I go, possibly. Do you think we could stand each other and 2-3 other kiddos in the car for a day trip to Redding?

The event 10 Years! Redding, CA - GPS Adventures Maze: May 1 has been published. I wonder if the special Lackey icon will be issued since Jeremy will be there.

Be among the first to see the exhibit in California while you socialize with fellow geocachers! Jeremy Irish, President and Co-Founder of Groundspeak, Development Sponsor Trimble Navigation, exhibit creator Minotaur Mazes and Development Supporter PNT will be there to celebrate with the geocaching community.

We're going. We were just looking at hotels in the area last night. Anyone here planning on going? Maybe we can get a group rate...?

Also, we're starting a bookmark list of caches we plan on doing while there. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cache that we just HAVE to find?

I probably won't go on May 1 since it's the day before our own 10 Years! Eureka, CA event. Reading about opening day for the Maze at other cities makes me think that it's too crowded to enjoy. A more relaxed time for me would be to go on a weekday.

I just checked my Highway 299 caches-along-a-route PQ and there are lots of new ones between here and Redding. orange

LAST CALL! Is anyone else going to this on opening weekend?

We have our hotel booked, and plans made...if anyone else is going we can meet up! We're tentatively planning on hitting up the Burney Falls on Friday, (or spending the day caching around Redding,) then the event and GPS maze (and the rest of Turtle Bay) on Saturday.
